ASES Webinar: Solar Power and Renewable Energy Solutions for Buildings
Recorded
Wednesday, May 22, 2019 · 12:00 p.m.
ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
For AIA Credit (2.0 AIA LU-HSW)*: This 2-hour program is aimed at building design professionals (architects, engineers, LEED APs) interested in making their new construction and major renovation projects more sustainable through renewable energy and energy efficiency. The program introduces renewable energy sources and their myriad applications before detailing solar electricity, geothermal HVAC and efficiency elements as part of building decarbonization. Sample commercial, residential, new construction and retrofit projects will be described, and extensive case studies of award-winning near zero energy and net zero energy projects will be presented. The narrated slide presentation is followed by a Q&A period to respond to typed-in questions from the audience.
*NOTE in order to receive the AIA credits, you MUST register and attend the webinar LIVE! No credits will be available to those watching a recording. Though, a recording will be available for free after the airing for review.
Credits will be distributed by the American Solar Energy Society after the webinar is complete for all those who registered and attended.

AGENDA
Understand the ‘power of the sun’ and learn how solar electricity (in its various forms) is (currently) the most viable technology to reduce carbon footprint and operating costs of utilities and buildings.
Appreciate the need for immediate action on the part of architects and design professionals to employ net zero and near net zero energy solutions in their projects in order to slow climate change.
Learn pre-requisites and best practices for rooftop solar and (in combination with geothermal HVAC) appreciate their ability to produce stable, environmentally friendly buildings.
Visualize and monetize integrated buildings that incorporate all of the environmentally friendly parts of a renewable energy and efficency program, satisfying client needs while saving energy, money and protecting the environment.
