Amy McGarrity
CIO, Colorado PERA
Amy McGarrity is responsible for managing over $50 billion for the pension plan in accordance with the Board of Trustees policies and state statutes.
Amy oversees portfolio and risk management for global equities, fixed income, real estate, private equity, and new investment opportunities. She recommends investment policy to the Board of Trustees and contributes to strategic planning. She manages relationships with external asset managers, the custodial bank, and investment consultants and represents Colorado PERA to legislative bodies and other external entities.
While at Colorado PERA, Amy worked as Senior Investment Officer, then as the Deputy Chief Investment Officer. She has also held previous investment positions at William Blair, Buck Consultants, Prima Capital Holding, William M. Mercer Investment Consulting, and Caxton Corporation.
Amy holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Wyoming and an MBA from Rider University. She serves on the Healthy Markets Association Board and the Girl Scouts of Colorado Board.
Robert M. Hunkeler
Vice President – Investments International Paper Company
Bob joined International Paper in 1997 as Vice President – Investments. In this position, he is responsible for the investment direction of IP’s $19 billion in pension, savings and other plan assets.
Prior to joining International Paper, he was Associate Director – Funds Management and Financing at Sandoz Corporation where he was responsible for pensions, cash management and other finance activities. Before that he held numerous finance positions at Ciba-Geigy Corporation. He began his career as a chemical lab technician at Ciba-Geigy’s central research facility in Basel, Switzerland.
Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and an MBA from the University of Maryland. He is a past Chairman, and current board member, of the Committee on Investment of Employee Benefit Assets (CIEBA), a former trustee of the Greenwich Roundtable and former member of the NYSE Pension Managers Advisory Committee. He also is a past recipient of Institutional Investor’s Corporate Plan Sponsor of the Year and Small Corporate Plan Hedge Fund Investor of the Year awards.
Erol Sonderegger
Assistant Executive Director, Minnesota State Board of Investment (SBI)
In his role as Assistant Executive Director at the Minnesota State Board of Investment (SBI), Erol Sonderegger oversees all aspects of the plan’s public markets investment portfolio under the direction of Mansco Perry, executive director and CIO of SBI. Prior to re-joining the SBI in 2019, Sonderegger was head of Client Portfolio Management at Galliard Capital Management in Minneapolis, MN. Prior to his role at Galliard, Erol was a portfolio manager on the fixed income team at Riversource Investments (now Columbia Threadneedle) and served as a member of the firm’s Fixed Income Committee. Erol earned a BBA in International Business from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and is a CFA Charterholder.
Sean Bill
Chief Investment Officer at the VTA
Sean Bill is currently the chief investment officer at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), where he is responsible for the management and oversight of a multibillion-dollar, multi-asset class portfolio. He has also served as a trustee for the City of San Jose Pension Plan and as a senior adviser to the San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System. Prior to entering public service, Bill was a principal at a global macro hedge fund based in Newport Beach, California, and he began his career on the agriculture floor at the Chicago Board of Trade. Bill has invested in dozens of seed-stage technology companies and has been a frequent guest on Bloomberg Television, CNBC, and Fox Business News. He is a graduate of Indiana University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
