In July 2022 NIST announced the selection of four Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) algorithms to be ratified as new standards for key establishment and digital signatures. RISC-V has also recently ratified new cryptographic extensions.
Team PQShield contributed to all the announced NIST standards and have also contributed significantly to RISC‐V, IETF, GlobalPlatform and WEF.
This presentation discusses the new standards and their meaning for designers of IoT and embedded devices, including:
• Overview and implications of the new NIST standards / algorithms
• Overview of the RISC-V crypto extensions
• How both HW and SW engineers can begin migrating to PQC
