Brian Applegarth
Creator of Cannabis Trail and Ganja Travler
Brian Applegarth is a specialized cannabis travel consultant. He helps Destination Organizations strategically navigate the cannabis and hemp travel trends. Brian offers consultative services that center around destination development and destination marketing strategies, and provide solutions for the visitor economy.
Brian's work is data-driven, he is the sole advisor on the first ever national research project on the cannabis travel audience in the United States. He is the Founder the Cannabis Travel Association International and I lead the cannabis and hemp work groups for Destinations International and the California Travel Association.
Brian speaks at industry events and conferences including AHLA Resorts Committee, Northern and Southern California CHLA Conferences, CalTravel Summit, Destinations International Advocacy Summit, ILC Indie Confab, NCCA Concierge Association, UNWTO Rethinking Tourism, and the EuroAm Cannabis Business Conference.
Brian is a certified cannabis sommelier and a certified cannabis therapy consultant, and incorporates this knowledge into his work. He is an award-winning amateur cannabis culture documentarian and have curated cannabis-themed exhibits for the Museum of Sonoma County, the Kelley House Museum of Mendocino, and the Cannabis Exhibit at the California State Fair.

Kandice Hawes is the founder and Executive Director of Orange County NORML (the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) since 2003 which she after losing her college financial aid due to a possession charge. In the twenty-one years since then OC NORML has become one of the most accomplished chapters in the NORML organization earning the Outstanding Chapter of the Year Award at the 2012 National NORML Convention.
Kandice Hawes was named High Times Freedom Fighter of the month in November
2012. She was also named one of “Orange County’s 100 Most Influential People” by the
Orange County Register in 2014 and named one of the “100 Most Interesting People in
Orange County” by the OC Weekly in 2015.
In 2014 Kandice Hawes founded and served as the Principal Officer of the Committee
to Support Medical Marijuana Ballot Initiative Political Action Committee. The PAC qualified a voter initiative to replace the ban on medical marijuana collectives in Santa Ana
and received 54% of the vote in November 2014.
In 2016 Kandice graduated from California State University Fullerton with degrees in
Political Science and Public Administration.
She currently works as the events and community outreach manager for Glass House Group which owns and operates retail cannabis dispensaries in California and manages the SB34 program for four retail programs distributing donations to over 100 patients in need.
