About This Webinar
Why is it that sometimes students learn from the examples presented in class, and other times they don't? In this session we'll answer this question with ideas from research and classroom experiences. Here's the short version: when students think deeply about something, they're likely to learn from it. We'll discuss how to engineer this sort of deep thinking in practice.

Michael Pershan teaches math to 3rd, 8th, 9th and 12th Graders at St Ann's School in Brooklyn. He is the author of a new book, "Teaching Math With Examples." Michael has been blogging about math and teaching since 2010, including at mathmistakes.org, where he still occasionally publishes new mistakes. He is the former chair of the Global Math Department and, way back when, created the GMD newsletter.
