Companies spend significant money defining and protecting brand assets including their defined color palette. Consumers know Coca-Cola red and seeing it invokes a planned response. Repetition and consistency builds brand recognition with consumers and eventually this becomes equity which translates into loyalty and sales. One area where off-spec brand colors are especially noticeable is sports broadcasting. When their favorite team's colors appear incorrectly, fans are vocal about it. ColorNet is a patent-pending artificial intelligence (AI) technology developed by Clemson University that solves this issue. ColorNet ingests live video, adjusts each frame pixel-by-pixel, and outputs color corrected video in real-time ensuring accurate brand colors with no latency. In this study, ColorNet is demonstrated using Clemson University’s orange, Pantone 165. This presentation will discuss the current process for color correction on digital displays, show a demo of ColorNet, and discuss future implementations of this technology.
