Matt Schlapp is the Chairman of the American Conservative Union, the nation’s original grassroots conservative organization. During his five-year tenure as chairman, ACU has almost tripled in size, expanded CPAC to reach 25 million live viewers and 1 billion Twitter impressions at the most recent CPAC. ACU also hosts dozens of additional events, including Battleground CPACs in the US and international CPACs abroad.
Communications Director of The American Conservative Union
Ian Walters is the ACU Communications Director. He is responsible in large part for CPAC’s rise as an important voice for conservatism throughout the past two decades. He met his wife--CPAC & Events Director, Carin Walters--at CPAC 2009. He is the father of two wonderful daughters and is an accomplished working musician.
Julie Strauss Levin is an attorney with extensive experience in both the for-profit and non-profit spaces. As principal with IGMP, PLLC, Julie provides federal intellectual property and related counseling, inclusive of advising clients regarding brand protection, promotion, and marketing to ensure optimal usage of an entity’s trademark and copyright assets. Julie also provides strategic counseling to select charitable organizations.
Julie served as General Counsel of Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, where she provided legal and strategic counseling for this 501(c)(6) organization and its affiliated (c)(3) and associated (c)(4) entities. She was also General Counsel of Freedom Partners Action Fund, a SuperPAC that supported candidates who believe in free market enterprise and a free society. As Freedom Partners General Counsel, Julie handled a wide variety of legal matters, including political law, contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, employment, and other matters.
Prior to Freedom Partners, Julie was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Feld Entertainment, Inc., the largest provider of live family entertainment in the world, including such properties as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Disney On Ice, Disney Live! and Feld Motor Sports. There she provided legal and business counseling and critical guidance in multiple areas, such as intellectual property, promotions and marketing counseling, contracts, regulatory compliance, litigation management, immigration, employment, government relations, crisis management, and other areas. Earlier in her legal career, Julie worked at several law firms representing a variety of clients, including the United States Olympic Committee.
Julie was recently appointed to the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad, an independent agency of the federal government which was created based on the recognition that the United States has an interest in preserving sites in other countries related to the heritage of Americans or their descendants from those countries. She also sits on the Virginia Israel Advisory Board, a state agency which assists Israeli companies to build and grow their U.S. presence in the Commonwealth, having been appointed by the Virginia Assembly Speaker in 2017.
Director of International Affairs at City of David Foundation
Ze’ev Orenstein is the Director of International Affairs for the City of David Foundation, where he is responsible for strengthening the awareness of and support for the City of David, site of ancient, Biblical Jerusalem, among those shaping public opinion. To that end, Ze’ev works closely with members of the international media, foreign dignitaries, politicians, academics, NGO’s, think tanks, Hollywood producers & celebrities, and film production companies.
Prior to joining the City of David Foundation, Ze’ev served as a Senior Educator & Manager of Israel Education Initiatives with Jerusalem U, and before that with The David Project, where he delivered lectures and workshops for thousands of students, and developed cutting edge resources on the subjects of Israel in Jewish identity and the Israel - Arab conflict.
Having made Aliyah in 2003, Ze’ev lives with his family in Ma’aleh Adumim, Israel. Ze’ev completed his MA degree (cum laude) in Government with a specialization in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security Studies from the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya.
Currently, Congressman Zeldin serves on two Committees in the House of Representatives: Financial Services and Foreign Affairs, where he serves as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. Additionally, Congressman Zeldin serves as co-chair of the Long Island Sound Caucus and founding member of the National Estuary Program Caucus and as one of two Jewish Republicans in Congress, also serves as co-chairman of the House Republican Israel Caucus, which has over 100 members, and has been a stalwart opponent of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, coleading a House passed resolution (H.Res.246) to combat it.
