Innovating for sustainability: MKS’ Atotech unveils 'The future without hexavalent chrome'
About This Webinar
For many years, hexavalent chrome has been utilized in the plating industry to provide decorative finishes and in the pretreatment of plastic materials to facilitate metallization, a process often referred to as chromosulfuric acid etch.
This reliance on hexavalent chromium in the plating industry is now facing a critical shift. As a substance of very high concern (SVHC) in the European Union, the use of hexavalent chromium demands authorization under REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) regulations. However, navigating the transition to alternatives has been challenging. At MKS’ Atotech, we are offering a comprehensive range of Cr(VI)-free and non-PFAS-containing processes that comply to REACH regulations.
Join our webinar as we delve into the future without hexavalent chrome. We will explore Covertron® 600, our chromium-free, non-PFAS pretreatment for plastic metallization of ABS, ABS/PC, and 2K/3K/selective materials currently treated with Cr(VI) processes, is one example. Additionally, our TriChrome® product line is a groundbreaking range of Cr(VI)-free finishes that offers a spectrum of appearances from light to dark.
Topics covered:
Covertron 600: Chrome-free pretreatment for plating on plastics
Technical performance and real-world experiences
TriChrome: Trivalent chrome finishes for diverse aesthetic needs
