In the past decade, the demand for lighter metals in consumer electronics, machinery, and the automotive industry has grown significantly, aiming to enhance ergonomics, reduce environmental impact, and improve efficiency. The metal of choice is aluminum, with its diverse alloy compositions finding increasing applications across various sectors. However, due to its chemical properties, corrosion remains a significant challenge for unprotected aluminum, limiting its industrial use.

At MKS' Atotech, we have developed advanced pretreatment and plating processes for aluminum and its alloys, focusing on environmental sustainability and enhanced performance. We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming webinar, where we will share our expertise and provide guidelines on best practices and process sequences for various aluminum surface conditions and alloy types in both electroless and electroplated coatings.

Shakeel Akhtar, Global Product & Business Development Manager, and Oleksandra Yevtushenko, Global Application Manager for Wear Resistant Coatings will present this exclusive webinar.

During this 45-minute session, we will cover the following topics:

• Properties of aluminum and its alloys
• Tailoring pretreatment processes for different types of alloys
• Functions of pretreatment steps (soak cleaning, alkaline etching, desmutting, and rinsing)
• The zincate process
• Electroless nickel strike ‒ process control and limitations
• Summary and take away
