Brian Cheney
Director of Trading, TSG Wealth Management
Brian Cheney is from the Santa Barbara area and attended college at Utah Valley University. He graduated in 2003 with a Bachelors's in Finance and in 2006 received his MBA from Westminster College. In 2003, Brian started his investment career at Goldman Sachs in the Private Wealth Management Operations division where he spent 15 years in a Global Trade Management role. He managed trading and settlement teams for all products which entailed leading more than 50 people across Salt Lake City, Singapore, India, and Switzerland. In 2019 he transitioned from Goldman Sachs to Morgan Stanley to serve as their Compliance Risk Officer overseeing Financial Advisors in the Reno/Tahoe/Elko and Eureka California branches.
Outside of the office Brian finds a lot of purpose and enjoyment as an adjunct professor teaching an investment management course at the University of Nevada Reno and is also a high school soccer referee. In any spare time, he can be found cooking, bbqing, golfing, or playing basketball.
Brian currently lives in Reno, NV with his wife Mandy, and their 4 children Elle, Owen, Hazel, and Finn. They like to snowboard together and take road trips to the beach as much as possible. They ask their kids every year if they would like to go to Disneyland or to the beach and the beach has won every single time.

After graduating from Sacred Heart University with a BA in Media Studies and Communications, Concentration in PR & Advertising, Joe began his career as Sales Representative at Allure Eyewear based out of New York City.
He has now been with Dow Jones for 2 ½ years and has been with the Barron's in Education team to aid in student engagement to enhance financial proficiency across the country.
Lauren Rutkowski
Engagement Manager
After graduating from the University of Delaware with a BA in Mass Communication & PR, Lauren began her career as a media and advertising professional in the nonprofit sector in Washington, DC. After leaving DC, she returned to her home state of NJ to handle social media and digital marketing for an education organization.
At the beginning of 2020, Lauren joined the Barron's in Education team to aid in student engagement to enhance financial proficiency across the country.
