Throughout his 20+ years with OPIS, Denton has covered nearly all energy markets for which OPIS provides price discovery. Denton’s expertise lies in futures, spot, rack and retail markets as well as the logistics along the entire supply chain. Before being named Chief Oil Analyst, he was Executive Editor for U.S. Refined Oil Products, overseeing day-to-day market operations. As Markets Editor prior to that, his primary focus was on the U.S. West Coast where OPIS holds the pricing benchmark for gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.
Denton is often interviewed by major media outlets for his deep analysis and understanding of underlying fundamentals as well as technical analysis of price moves in the U.S. spot and futures markets. He's appeared on CNN, CNBC, MSNBC and Fox Business as well as network evening news programs, to name a few. Denton also provides local analysis to various radio stations nationwide and in leading print publications. Denton frequently speaks at industry conferences, providing attendees with unique insight on how to buy and sell fuel more profitably.
Denton graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in journalism and mass media. He was also a Rutgers football letterwinner.
