In the spirit of interagency cooperation this webinar our panel of experts will facilitate the sharing of real-life cases and share actionable open-source intelligence on the movement of trafficked human beings via planes , boats and vehicles and the various methods by which the traffickers enable this movement i.e. what to look out for on the ground!

The panel chairman will enable viewers the opportunity to share analysis on the latest trends in cross border crimes and share some of their latest experiences of changing Modus Operandi of criminal groups operating in their area. And what they have done to combat these changing criminal activities/actions.

It will take the form of a briefing by our panel of experts, and then viewers will be asked to share their experiences and ask questions.

Zahra Atbi is a Counter-Trafficking Specialist at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva, with over a decade of experience addressing trafficking in persons in development and crisis settings. As co-lead of the Global Protection Cluster’s Anti-Trafficking Task Team, she has developed operational tools, training modules, and policies to enhance anti-trafficking responses within humanitarian contexts (eg: DRC, NWSyria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Cox’Bazar, Niger). Zahra has extensive expertise in analyzing trafficking methodologies and collaborating with security and protection actors to strengthen counter-trafficking strategies globally.

Seconded National Expert/Operational Officer, FRONTEX
Sergio D’Orsi is currently serving the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) as Seconded National Expert/Operational Officer at the Law enforcement Sector within the Operational Planning Division and is responsible for developing operational and strategic activities aimed at prevention, detection and combating cross-border crime, particularly in the field of countering Trafficking in Human Beings (THB).
He has been previously covering different positions at the European Law Enforcement Agency (Europol), including leading position in the field anti-corruption operations and as an expert on human trafficking.
Sergio has an extensive professional experience as a senior team leader investigator within the Italian State Police, engaged in investigations against organised crime, particularly on Mafia-type criminal groups.
He has a solid background as international investigator and Expert on serious and organised crime and counter-terrorism within EU Civilian Crisis Management Missions (CSDP) and United Nations’ Peace Keeping Operations, covering different positions.
In that context, he has led various operational Task Forces responsible for investigating serious and major crimes within the Balkan region, including high-level corruption, trafficking in human beings.
Holds a Master Degree in Public Administration Sciences (MSc) from the State University of Turin, Italy.
