Overcoming race, gender, and immigration barriers in Canada, BHP’s gender balance initiatives brought her back to mining. She volunteers with WIM Canada and WIM/WIN SK. Sekai received a nomination for a YWCA Women of Distinction award for her work in advancing women in the trades.

Mine Mechanical Engineer

Toyin Famure is a Mechanical Engineer at a Saskatchewan potash mine. He works as a maintenance.
Engineer for underground operations. He is highly passionate about technology and aspires to push
the boundaries of mining by leveraging technology for safer, more efficient, and data-driven processes.
He received a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science
in Computer Science at the University of Saskatchewan. Having experienced the processes and
operational challenges at various mines throughout his career, he understands the barriers to
implementing technological innovation and developments in the industry.
Toyin loves the adventure of his work and the constant challenges of mining.
