Professor – BIM and Integrated Practice + Architectural Technology
Gary J. Gerard is entering his 11th year of full-time instruction at Fanshawe in London Ontario as both a professor and academic coordinator in the Donald J. Smith School of Building Technology. Gary holds a keen interest in the areas of BIM; Project Procurement and Project Management and their emergences and evolutions in the AEC sector. Gary holds an advanced diploma in Architectural Technology (Fanshawe) and a honors Bachelor of Science in Construction Project Management (ITSligo – Ireland) as his credentials. His professional background includes employment within the architectural, engineering, and constructions sectors in a variety of capacities and roles. As part of his continued studies and professional development, Gary studied the adoption of BIM in the AEC Sector and its reliance of emerging methods of procurement that would assist in solving the AEC major issues. The BIM and Integrated Practice program discusses the challenges of the AEC Sector and how different procurement methods employing BIM may assist in bettering the AEC sectors in the more collaborative and communicative sector. Fanshawe is continuing to adopt additional courses and curriculum involving BIM for all its programs across the entire DJS School of Building Technology at Fanshawe.
