One of the major challenges faced by healthcare professionals caring for patients with COVID-19 is the lack of evidence-based treatment that can stop the progression of coronavirus before patients develop life threatening multiorgan failure.
A multitude of antiviral and immune modulating drugs have been suggested as potential treatments and are being tested in clinical trials.
