5G is well known for its large bandwidth and ultra-low latency. Many of these use cases happen in an indoor environment. Operators understand the importance of bringing 5G connectivity indoors, and Chinese operators have been conducting trials over the past few years. The efforts helped operators identify the immediate 5G applications and work out best practice. Recently, Comba Network was selected by China Mobile to contribute to the rollout of one of the largest deployments of 5G distributed picocell, which involves 20,000 small cell base stations. Comba 5G Distributed Picocell is a modular small cell solution based on Intel FlexRAN architecture, suitable for different scales and types of buildings, providing flexible deployments in a cost-effective way.
