Webinar hosting presenter Jill Bemis
7-8 Math Teacher, Department Lead
I am an Iowa girl living and teaching in Miles City, Montana. My adventure began in Virginia Beach 30 years ago, and I have had the honor of teaching so many wonderful students since then. My path has not been straight, but full of adventures. Teaching to me is learning daily just as my students do in my classroom. I have taught in five different states with experience in most grades between Kindergarten and 8th. For the past 8 years I have been focusing on math in the 7-8 grades. I am currently the department lead for my middle school. In my spare time, I enjoy walking and hiking with my husband and three Siberian huskies. I also enjoy reading and running.

Global Math Department webinar platform hosts Partnering with Parents in Elementary School Math
The Global Math Department began as a group of teachers who knew each other through Twitter, math education blogs and Twitter Math Camp. Since 2012 The Global Math Department community has grown into a multi-faceted group of math educators who love to share their ideas related to teaching and learning mathematics. We recognize that as educators we are charged with promoting equity and access within mathematics instruction. In addition, we believe it is crucial that teachers be provided with quality resources and ideas that they can use immediately with their students. Lively and friendly conversations in our weekly webinars encourage all participants to share and continue to grow as educators.
