About This Webinar
During this presentation we will discuss the importance of building a strong math foundation in kindergarten. We will discuss strategies, tools and reaources that will prepare children for success well beyond kindergarten. So much of what children learn and how they begin to see themselves as mathematicians begins in the early grades and we want to ensure that the experience leads them to a loving relationship with math.

I am a mother, wife and math teacher. I currently teach at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA and my favorite class to teach is statistics! Mrs. Spann is a dedicated mother of 4 to, Nia, Mia, Liara and Princeton. She is also the wife to her number one fan Terry Spann Jr. & they all reside in South Carolina. Mrs.Spann is a first generation college student that earned her bachelor's degree from Johnson C. Smith University in Elementary Education. She later earned her masters degree from Grand Canyon University with a focus in educational administration. She has been an educator for the past decade, founded a pod & released “Nia’s Purpose”, a children's book highlighting her daughter who is conquering cerebral palsy in 2020. She is the CEO of FUNdamentals of Learning, LLC, & creator of Kindergarten Kounts ®. Mrs. Spann believes that every child is a genius, every family is an asset & every educator has an opportunity to plant seeds of hope in children.

The Global Math Department began as a group of teachers who knew each other through Twitter, math education blogs and Twitter Math Camp. Since 2012 The Global Math Department community has grown into a multi-faceted group of math educators who love to share their ideas related to teaching and learning mathematics.
