    Nick Lambert - Chair/Moderator
    Co-Founder & Director, NLA International Ltd
    A master mariner and a committed proponent of the maritime users’ perspective, Rear Admiral Nick Lambert concluded a long naval operational career as the UK National Hydrographer in December 2012. He advises on a wide range of maritime issues including the growing potential of the blue economy concept, the importance of spatial data infrastructures and hydrography for maritime economies, the evolution of eNavigation and GNSS vulnerability, near or real time situational awareness (especially that derived from space based assets and applications), maritime connectivity and cyber security, human factors, and training and education in the maritime sector.

    He has a particular interest in the Polar Regions and is also engaged in a variety of situational awareness, fisheries and aquaculture management, marine autonomous systems and vessel efficiency projects.

    Justin Atkin - Welcome Address
    Port Representative - UK & Ireland, Port of Antwerp
    Born in Lincolnshire (UK), Justin holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Humanities from the University of Humberside (Hull). His first position in the maritime industry was in 1994 when he started working as a Shipping Agent for an independently owned Swedish shipping company. In 2000 he took up the position of Assistant Operations Manager at Associated British Ports (ABP) where he soon became Terminal Manager for the Humber International Terminal and later Head of Operations for Immingham & Grimsby. From 2011 to 2016 Justin was Commercial Manager for ABP’s four Humber ports of Goole, Grimsby, Hull and Immingham as well as Key Account Manager for a number of Group accounts.

    Working as a Consultant since 2016, Justin is an experienced senior manager with a strong operational and commercial understanding of the UK ports and logistics industry, working with a portfolio of corporate companies and SME’s. Justin has been the Port of Antwerp’s Representative in the UK and Ireland since 2018, building relationships with shippers, shipping lines and freight forwarders as well as ports, trade associations and all levels of Government.

    Stephen Carr
    Group Commercial Director, Peel Ports - Liverpool
    Stephen joined Peel Ports in 2009 as Head of Business Development for the Mersey Division before moving to his current group role, Commercial Director in 2017. He started his career with BP, working across a variety of sales and marketing roles for the best part of 12 years, before becoming Sales Director for Manchester based chemicals firm TGD.

    Based in at the Port of Liverpool, Stephen is responsible for driving the businesses forward with new and existing commercial opportunities across the group’s diverse portfolio. During his time with Peel Ports, he has played a leading role in strategic projects including the development of container terminal Liverpool2, the growth in the use of the Manchester Ship Canal (as a multimodal logistics hub), and the development of port-centric warehousing throughout North-west England.

    Alex Veitch
    General Manager - Public Policy, Logistics UK
    Alex is responsible for Logistics UK public policy positions leading a team of policy specialists. Alex has worked at Logistics UK since 2015 and was Head of Multimodal and previously Head of Global Policy, a role that included a one-year secondment to HMRC Customs EU Exit team.

    Alex has a varied background across the transport and sustainability sectors, including developing low-carbon vehicle policies and programmes for the Energy Saving Trust; Head of Sustainability for the global association of railways UIC based in Paris, and leading multimodal projects and EU policy engagement for ATOC and Rail Delivery Group. Alex started his career as an environmental cam-paigner for the Sierra Club in Washington DC.

    Alex is currently Vice Chair of Trustees at Living Streets, the national charity for everyday walking, and is a Chartered Member of CILT, IEMA and CMI

    Alan Platt
    Chief Executive Officer, John Good Group
    Having graduated from Leeds University with a degree in German and Management Studies, my early career took me first to Hamburg where I spent 2 years in the shipping industry. Having returned to the UK I joined United Biscuits before joining The Famous Grouse, primarily in sales and account management roles.

    I joined The John Good Group in 1998 where I have progressed through a variety of different roles to become Chief Executive Officer. The John Good Group is a sixth generation family business with its core activities in the Shipping & Logistics, Warehousing & Distribution and Corporate Travel sectors. Outside of our UK base, the John Good office network stretches across northern Europe, Turkey, Iceland and the USA.

    I am a previous board member of the local LEP, a mentor for the Young Enterprise Scheme for many years, and I am currently a volunteer teaching German in local schools whilst actively involved in the Matthew Good Foundation, the Group’s charitable initiative.
