The use of specialized sensors, unit load devices and broadband connectivity gives today’s air cargo airlines the ability to establish an Internet of Things (IoT) approach to air cargo tracking. Using broadband connectivity for in-flight tracking of time-sensitive and perishable cargo started to emerge with trials conducted by several air cargo carriers in recent years.
