Dave Rawlinson
Head of Technology Environments, AirWorks, BAE Systems
Dave joined the Royal Navy as a helicopter pilot in 1990 and served for 12 years, completed numerous tours in the former republic of Yugoslavia, multiple exercises and operations, commanded Royal Navy support helicopter operations in Sierra Leone and was UK Amphibious Helicopters Operations Officer during the start of the Afghanistan campaign. In 2003 Dave moved into industry to work for AgustaWestland Helicopters (now Leonardo Helicopters), working on the UK Apache attack helicopter programme. In 2007 Dave joined BAE Systems as a business development manager, supporting one of the company’s software groups across a diverse portfolio, before moving to support a strategic export campaign. In 2019 Dave was asked to lead cyber, information and digital delivery elements of the Future Combat Air System design, while also helping to write the company Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance strategy. Since 2021 Dave leads Air Sector Technology Environments with responsibility for delivering new methods, tooling and infrastructures to deliver radical productivity improvements across manufacturing, software development and data science.
