U.S. State Dept. IT Fellowship Opportunity for Community College Students

Community Colleges for International Development (CCID) sponsors this one-hour webinar featuring speakers from the U.S. Department of State and the Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship program.

Designed to provide helpful information for faculty and advisors at community colleges, this webinar focused on the eligibility requirements and timeline for the undergraduate fellowship program. Community college students are also welcome to attend.

The FAIT Fellowship, a two-year program funded by the U.S. Department of State, offers both undergraduate and graduate fellowships, and is a path to a career in the Foreign Service as an Information Management Specialist for students in IT-related degree programs.

Now is a great time to find out more about this fellowship program. Applications for the 2025 cohort are being accepted Sep 16, 2024 through Jan 21, 2025.

Community college students are well-positioned to apply for the FAIT Fellowship, because this program provides up to $87,000 in academic funding total for their junior and senior years of their bachelor’s degree program. Plus, FAIT Fellows work in two summer internships (with stipends), and receive professional development and mentorship. Upon successful completion of the program and the State Department requirements, FAIT Fellows receive an appointment in the Foreign Service as a full-time Diplomatic Technology Officer.

Through the FAIT Fellowship program, the State Department seeks to attract top technology talent to the Foreign Service that reflects the diversity of the United States. Women, members of minority groups underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and those with financial need, are all encouraged to apply.
