The government and health system response to manage the outbreak of COVID-19 relies on data to inform decisions. The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) is responsible for the development and refinement of the classifications used to describe hospital patients and activities in Australia.
IHPA has updated the national activity based funding classifications to accommodate the emerging situation with COVID-19.
This webinar will provide an overview of the rules developed by IHPA for coding and reporting of COVID-19 episodes of care in admitted, emergency department and non-admitted settings and will outline IHPA’s approach to costing and pricing of COVID-19 episodes of care in Australian public hospitals.
