About This Webinar
Pneumonia remains a significant disease of both dairy and beef calves in the UK. Through this talk we will highlight the challenges in managing this multifactorial condition and the economic impact that it has. We will look at how technology is enabling more rapid identification of the disease and better monitoring at a farm level. Finally we look at the practical steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of disease on farm and highlight the areas you should focus on to minimise the impact of the disease.

    Dr Tim Potter
    Senior Clinical Director, Westpoint Farm Vets and Kingshay Farming and Conservation Limited

    Tim graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2003 and then went on to complete a farm animal residency. On completion of his residency he undertook a PhD, examining the use of antimicrobials in the treatment of calf pneumonia. Having completed his PhD, Tim joined Westpoint with a focus on youngstock health management and currently provides advice to calf rearing units across the UK. Tim is currently Senior Clinical Director of Westpoint Farm Vets and Kingshay. In 2011 Tim was part of the group which created the National Youngstock Association to help promote best practice in calf rearing.

    Kat Baxter-Smith
    Sector Veterinary Adviser, MSD Animal Health

    Kat graduated as a vet from the Royal Veterinary College in 2010, she worked in mixed practices (mostly equine and farm animal) in the midlands for 7 years and completed an advanced certificate in internal medicine. She has been with MSD for 3 years, firstly as a field veterinary adviser and now as Sector Veterinary Adviser for Sheep and Beef. She is particularly interested in farm animal youngstock and respiratory disease. She lives in Northamptonshire with her farmer husband and two excitable spaniels.
