John Doyle is a senior vice president focused on defined contribution in the Retirement Strategy Group at American Funds, part of Capital Group. He has 28 years of investment industry experience and joined Capital Group in 2013. Prior to joining Capital, John was executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Hartford Investment Management Company. Before that, he worked as head of marketing and product at T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services and as a vice president of marketing at Fidelity Investments. John is a frequent speaker on issues and topics important to the success of the DC retirement system. He holds an MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University.

Joanne has over 25 years of experience advising corporations, tax-exempt organizations, governmental employers, and financial institutions on a broad range of employee benefits and executive compensation issues. Her expertise covers numerous topics affecting employer sponsored tax-qualified retirement plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, equity compensation programs, executive employment agreements, and health and welfare arrangements. In addition to plan design, implementation and administration, Joanne helps plan
sponsors navigate the benefits issues related to mergers and acquisitions and the termination of pension plans. She advises plan benefit committees on their fiduciary obligations and guides employers through internal compliance audits and responds to audits and investigations by the IRS, DOL, and PBGC. She provides advice concerning all aspects of health and welfare plan compliance, including requirements under the Affordable Care Act, high deductible health plan/health savings account plan designs, ERISA’s plan document and notice requirements, HIPAA, cafeteria plans, and COBRA rules.

Nick Nefouse, CFA, Managing Director, is the Co-Head of BlackRock’s LifePath target date fund franchise and Head of Investment Strategy for BlackRock’s Retirement Group. In this capacity, he leads product strategy and platform development and is responsible for developing and delivering innovative retirement solutions to BlackRock’s clients. Mr. Nefouse has spent the majority of his career in product and investment strategy roles across multi-asset, fixed income, and equities, previously leading product strategy for our Emerging Markets and Global Equities teams. He has been with the firm since 2003 in both New York and London, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, which merged with BlackRock in 2006. Mr. Nefouse earned a BA degree in economics from Michigan State University, and he is a board member on the Financial Markets Institute at Michigan State University. He is a CFA charter holder.
