About
The JWST is a masterpiece of engineering, a $10 billion machine the size of a tennis court, bristling with precision instruments, folded to fit in a rocket and launched to its final destination 1 million km away in space.

In this talk we’ll take a look at the telescope itself, its key components and its instrument suite, and the cutting-edge materials the telescope is constructed with.

We’ll examine the success of its deployment in space, and we’ll also hear about major role played by the UK in the JWST’s construction and the facility that led it, the UK Astronomy Technology Centre at the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh.

In the second part of the Masterclass there is a Q&A with Dr Olivia Jones and Editor Chris Bramley.

All registrants will have access to the Masterclass recording once the event has ended and will be able to watch this recording for a maximum of 10 times.
