Ed Chamberlayne is a Senior Vice President for Federal Programs with PRIME AE Group, responsible for the maintenance, development, and growth of PRIME AE's growing federal client portfolio of architecture and engineering services. He completed a 25-year active duty career in the U.S. Army in 2018 as a Colonel after serving in numerous leadership positions. Most notably, he commanded the Baltimore and Charleston Districts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Ed has extensive experience working with federal clients in areas involving military construction, the intelligence community, civil works, water resources, environmental remediation, and construction management. Ed is a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri. He is “triple” graduate of Virginia Tech with degrees in Civil Engineering (BS in 1993 and MS in 2002) and a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering in 2011.
In 2013, Ed was awarded the Palmetto Award by the then Governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, for his service to the state through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In 2021, Ed was honored to be selected as a Fellow within the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) for his service to both the society and the military. He also currently serves as the Post President of the Northern Virginia Post of SAME. In 2022, Ed was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni within the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech.
