Developing your English & Academic Study Skills Masterclass Series

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Choosing to study at a UK university is a big step, especially if English is not your first language. To help support international students in preparing for their studies at the University of Lincoln, our International College experts have designed a four-part Masterclass Series which will focus on developing essential English and academic study skills for university.

Our Masterclass Series will take place from 1pm to 2pm across April and May. The sessions, which will be broadcast live, will be hosted by Dr Chokri Ghezal, International College In-sessional Programme Manager, Dr Malgorzata Drewniok, Head of the International College, Holly Nelson, Pre-Sessional Programme Co-Ordinator, and Stephen Gildersleve In-Sessional Programme Co-Ordinator.

The Masterclass Series will cover four key areas. Session One on Thursday 11th April will explore the subject of academic writing, covering style, use of sources, and referencing. Session two on Wednesday 17th April provides insight into the different styles of writing that you might encounter at university. Session three on Monday 29th April will focus on cultivating your listening and speaking skills, and finally session four on Friday 3rd May will delve into understanding the different types of academic texts in English you might encounter at university and how to read them critically.

Throughout each session, the team will provide hints and tips to help you to prepare for university, and all participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
