This curriculum was written entirely by students and informed by firsthand perspectives about what’s missing in civics education today: a foundation in the civic knowledge needed to understand contemporary political issues, a bipartisan approach to polarizing topics, and productive political discussions among students.

Mollie Guba is a junior at Northwestern University and the Senior VP of Education at the Institute for Youth in Policy (YIP), a nonpartisan, youth-run organization committed to combating political polarization. She has led the Education Department for over a year, where she has overseen the development of an nonpartisan, student-written civics curriculum with the goal of fostering more productive political conversations among younger generations.
