Some processes, by nature, have some process time delay or deadtime. For example, a pH controller must have some deadtime, we must wait until the chemical neutralization finishes before measuring the pH. Deadtime is the mortal enemy of a PID controller; it is the most destabilizing process parameter. Deadtime compensator can stabilize the control of deadtime dominant processes.
