The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, or CMMC, is the next stage in the Department of Defense's (DoD) efforts to properly secure the Defense Industrial Base (DIB). In the simplest of terms, the DoD has created a cybersecurity assessment model and certification program that is leading towards an auditing framework to be completed in late 2020. Auditors will assess companies and certify them at a specific Level from 1 to 5.
