A major problem occurs in the HRSG during hot and cold restarts. Attemperator spray systems require tight control and a high degree of reliability. If a block valve in the attemperator spray loop fails, premature tube failures may be inevitable (maintenance issue), excessive downtime follows (production issue), and there could be a risk for a potential hazard (safety issue).
