About This Study Group
This Daily Study Group follows lessons from the upcoming Wolfram U course Introduction to Decision Process Theory by Professor Gerald H. Thomas, the instructor of a successful engineering course and author of A Field Theory of Games, Volume 1 and Volume 2. The Study Group provides access to a decision process theory (DPT) toolkit based on Wolfram Language. The DPT toolkit allows for the prioritization of conceptual understanding over mathematical equation solving, making concepts accessible not only to engineers but also to a more general audience, with applications to business, economics, project management and social behaviors.

In Daily Study Groups, the instructor guides each session by sharing short lessons with examples, polling the group to review key concepts, introducing practice problems and answering questions. Daily Study Group sessions run daily, Monday through Friday. Due to a US holiday, the Study Group will not meet on Monday, May 26. A certificate of program completion will be awarded to participants who attend online sessions and pass quizzes.

    Dr. Gerald H. Thomas
    Author and Adjunct Professor at Milwaukee School of Engineering
    Dr. Thomas has had 10 years of experience in high energy particle physics at CERN, Switzerland, University of Helsinki, Finland, and Argonne National Laboratory, USA; followed by 25 years in the corporate world at Nokia (formerly AT&T) Bell Labs , USA, Motorola (Cellular Division) , and a successful start-up company in Florida, USA. He has worked closely with System Dynamics consultants trained at MIT. He has authored four books on decision processes and has been an adjunct professor at MSOE for the last 20 years.
