Audri Scott Williams

Ms. Audri Scott Williams, Alabama, USA. Ms. Williams was first introduced to URI in 2005 as a walker on the Trail of Dreams World Peace Walk on their world tour. She is currently a member of several CCs in the Multiregion. Being a CC member and experiencing the network of support inspired her to become an advocate for interfaith and inter-generational dialogue as a foundation for creating peaceful and just communities. She has received several awards for her service, including the Presidential Certificate of Merit from President Bill Clinton; HBO’s Hearing Her Voice, Telling Her Story Award; Volvo for Life’s American Heroes Award; and the 2008 URI Bowes Award to the Trail of Dreams Team. She has a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tampa, a Masters Degree from Naropa University and post graduate studies at Harvard University and University of North Carolina. She continues to lead walks for peace and for the environment; conduct national and international dialogues for building bridges among people of diverse backgrounds; and nonviolent direct actions for peace, global unity and interfaith collaboration. She is committed to protecting Indigenous rights; ending racism, homophobia, ageism and gender bias. Her roots in nonviolent social change began when, as a child, her family was at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement in the south.
