Bio
John is a senior research engineer in PV systems and is partially retired from the SWTDI Southwest Region Solar Experiment Station (SWRES). He has assisted the PV industry, electrical contractors, and electrical inspectors in understanding the PV requirements of the National Electrical Code® (NEC) and is active with the PV Task Groups for NEC Article 690, 705 and 706. John has conducted extensive fieldwork for utilities, industry, and Sandia National Labs with balance of systems design for PV systems, acceptance testing of PV systems, test and evaluation of PV components, and the design and installation of data acquisition systems.
John earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from West Virginia University and a Master of Science from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering/Guidance and Control. He is a Fellow of the American Solar Energy Society.
John installed his first PV system in 1984 has lived in a PV powered home for three decades with his wife Patti.
