As Chief Executive Officer of Finance Montreal, Jacques leads a team whose mandate is to contribute to the development and promotion of Quebec as a world-class financial centre, in collaboration with members of Finance Montreal and stakeholders from the financial sector. He is a seasoned executive and leader with nearly 30 years of experience working in the financial sector and for innovative companies, including more than 20 years in senior management roles, in SMEs as well as large private and public companies. He was previously CEO of the Chambre des notaires du Québec, leading the transformation of the organization, and Senior Vice-President, Commercial Banking and International, at the National Bank of Canada, where he was responsible for all activities related to commercial banking and international services. On the corporate side, Jacques Deforges has acted as a senior executive of multiple companies, public and private, local and international, established and at the start-up stage, such as Teleglobe, Adaltis, Celmed BioSciences and Boomerang Tracking. In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Deforges is socially committed. He has been involved in the Refuge des jeunes de Montréal organization for nearly twenty-five years, notably as president of the “Dons d'Avenir” fundraising campaign, which raised $1.5 million. Jacques holds an MBA from Concordia University, as well as a diploma from the Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) in Paris, France, and holds an ACC accreditation from the International Coach Federation (ICF).
