Sagar hails from Nashik. During his graduation in Pharmacy, Sagar extensively wrote for The Times of India as a freelance correspondent. He worked in Gadchiroli at the Society for Education, Action and Research in Community Health (SEARCH) for a year-long fellowship to develop a social business model to ensure adequate supply of commonly required but unavailable medications in the villages of Gadchiroli. He completed his Master’s in Journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. He was awarded the graduate student scholarship from the South Asian Journalists Association and the Outstanding Master’s student award during his studies. On his return to India, Sagar worked on a collaborative project between the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, the University of Gottingen and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He has co-authored columns related to public health in Loksatta, the Marathi newspaper of the Indian Express group and has contributed to various Marathi newspapers as a freelance writer.
