Bio
Joseph Morelos has more than 20 years of design, test and evaluation, risk consultancy and regulatory experience in the marine and offshore industry. Joseph works in the Lloyd’s Register Technical Directorate team as the Complex Systems and Autonomy Leader, responsible for developing and sustaining technical requirements, test methods and technologies for complex maritime systems. Joseph is an active member of the prognostic and health management PHM society and international test and evaluation association ITEA that promotes new knowledge and technology in field of verification and validation of engineering systems.
Joseph began his career with LR as an engineering specialist in the London design support office carrying out type-approval of equipment and design review of engineering systems. Through-out his career Joseph has contributed to the development of technical requirements (class rules) and methods of safety analysis for maritime technology such as passenger ship Safe Return to Port SRtP in 2009-2010 and consultancy supporting the safe implementation of liquefied natural gas LNG as a ship fuel in 2011-2016. Prior to joining technical directorate Joseph was the maritime AI test innovation leader, managing the development and implementation of LR’s Digital Compliance framework, the first verification and validation service for AI and digital twins in the maritime industry.
