A talk by Joshua Simpson.
This session aims to share the potential benefits, and desired learning outcomes, of the Sport Education approach, while also sharing practical tips on how to implement this pedagogical approach within your upper Primary classroom. Through participation and interaction with this session, you will be introduced to the theoretical principles that underpin this approach to teaching and learning. Further to this, you will gain an insight into how this approach has been successfully implemented within the upper Primary level with a focus on Territory games, which has driven engagement and had students raving to their teachers about the PE session that they have had. While this session will reflect on a Sports Education unit that was delivered to upper primary students (Year 5 – 6), it will also share relevant tips and strategies that could be useful in the higher school system.
