A talk by Caitlin McMahon & Chanel Morrison. ABOUT THIS TALK:
Spirituality means different things to different people. Some associate ‘being spiritual’ with being religious, believing in God, being a hippy or carrying crystals in your pocket. But being spiritual, however you choose to do it, is important.
From an academic perspective, spiritual wellbeing involves living with a purpose and by one’s values. Maslow describes self-actualisation as the pinnacle of the hierarchy of needs, to reach one’s full potential. From a spiritual perspective, self-actualisation is the identification with one’s true self instead of the ego. When we seek and operate from our true self, rather than being overcome, belittled and fear ridden by the self-serving ego, we can live in alignment with our true values and purpose.
Academics in the educational space have identified emotional and spiritual intelligence as two areas key to the success of leaders. Join Caitlin and Chanel as they unpack spiritual well-being, and provide a platform for becoming spiritually well.
