This presentation will cover data visualization and how to find the story within your data. The presentation will cover aspects related to how people process information and how to create effective graphics using various data visualization principles and techniques to provide informed decision-making. As part of the presentation, different approaches to visualizing data will be discussed including decluttering your graphics, choosing informative visuals, focusing the audience's attention by using pre-attentive attributes, thinking like a designer, and implementing effective storytelling techniques in your workplace.

Ms. Karen Richey Mislick prepared cost and EVM estimates for Naval Air Systems Command and conducted independent cost estimates for the Naval Center for Cost Analysis before moving on to the Government Accountability Office where she worked as an auditor for 20 years. During Karen’s time at GAO, she authored several best practice guides including the GAO Cost Estimating and Assessment Guide, the Schedule Assessment Guide, and the Technology Readiness Assessment Guide. Karen used the criteria in these guides to create audit findings and recommendations aimed at improving government program outcomes.
