Robert B. Fried is a seasoned expert and industry thought leader, with over twenty-two years of experience performing data collections and forensic investigations of electronic evidence. He is Sandline Global’s Senior Vice President and Global Head of Forensics & Investigation where he leads the day-to-day operations for forensic services offered to clients, including data collections, forensic analysis, expert testimony, and forensic consultation. Prior to joining Sandline Global, Robert held senior-level positions for the digital forensics practices at global professional services firms. Additionally, he was a Computer Crime Specialist at the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), where he developed and instructed computer forensic and investigative training courses for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Robert attained a BS and MS in Forensic Science, and certificates in Law Enforcement Science, Computer Forensic Investigation, and Information Protection and Security from the University of New Haven. He holds and actively maintains the following industry certifications: ACE, CFCE, EnCE, GCFA, and C4 CBP. Robert is a licensed PI in Michigan, New York, and South Carolina. Robert serves on the Board of Advisors for the Masters in Investigations program at the University of New Haven, and the Global Advisory Board for EC-Council’s CHFI certification. Often sought after for his uncanny ability to convey forensics related topics, he is a frequent speaker at industry events, a featured guest on industry podcasts and has been published in several professional publications. He is the author of PI Magazine’s Cybersluething Department, where he shares insightful content on topics relating to digital forensics, eDiscovery, data privacy, and cybersecurity. Robert is also the author of the books, Forensic Data Collections 2.0: The Guide for Defensible & Efficient Processes (2022), Forensic Data Collections 2.0: A Selection of Trusted Digital Forensics Content (2023) and Forensic Data Collections 2.0: A Selection of Trusted Digital Forensics Content: Second Edition (2024).

Justin Tolman

Subject Matter Expert

Justin Tolman has been working in digital forensics for 12 years. He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Technology from BYU-Idaho and a master’s degree in Cyber Forensics from Purdue University. After graduating he worked as a Computer Forensic Specialist with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. He joined AccessData in 2015 as a senior instructor where he trained digital forensic professionals worldwide in forensic tools, concepts, and workflows. He was later promoted to Director of Training over North America. Justin has written training manuals on computer and mobile device forensics, as well as (his personal favorite) SQLite database analysis. Justin currently works as the Forensic Subject Matter Expert and Evangelist at Exterro following the purchase of AccessData by Exterro. He is frequently presenting at conferences, on webinars, and hosts a podcast and produces YouTube content related to digital forensics and Forensic Toolkit.
