CNC Macro programming has become an increasingly prevalent CNC machining skill-set manufacturing engineers and CNC machinists need in order to keep current with Industry 4.0 trends. This HTEC breakout session introduces CNC educators to the basics of CNC macro programming along with how macros can be implemented in a CNC program to facilitate factory automation and lights-out machining. After learning about CNC macro programming basics, participants will be taken through Cal Poly’s Computer Integrated Manufacturing II macro programming class project where students use macros to program logic into their CNC programs.
Educators will walk away with a thorough understanding of CNC macro programming along with a turn-key class project which can be tailored to teach CNC macro programming to all levels of CNC machining students, including those in high school, community or technical college and university.
