About

Satellite networks play a crucial role across various domains, including:

  • Global communication – Delivering connectivity in remote and rural areas lacking terrestrial infrastructure

  • Navigation & positioning – Supporting precise operations in aviation, maritime, and automotive applications

  • Environmental monitoring – Enabling land use assessment, ecosystem analysis, and sustainable planning

  • Defense applications – Facilitating reconnaissance, surveillance, and secure communications

Altair Feko, integrating WRAP and WinProp technologies, offers a comprehensive solution and streamlined workflow for evaluating satellite radio coverage across these diverse scenarios. WRAP provides essential methods for evaluating the ground/space coverage for satellites/earth stations, assessing inter-satellite links, examining interference for satellite networks, evaluating frequency sharing feasibility between space and terrestrial services, and Earth Station Coordination. In contrast, WinProp specializes in simulating built-up environments, tackling complex satellite radio coverage challenges in urban areas.

Join this webinar to discover how Altair Feko empowers engineers with cutting-edge simulation and analysis tools to optimize satellite network performance.

Dr. Reiner Hoppe
Vice President – Wireless Systems, Altair
Dr. Reiner Hoppe received his diploma and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997 and 2002, respectively, both from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. Afterwards he contributed at AWE Communications to the evolution of the WinProp radio planning software, which is a sophisticated solution in the field of wave propagation modelling and radio network planning. Since 2015 he is with Altair Engineering, nowadays responsible for the development of the software tools in the wireless domain including WinProp and WRAP, which are both part of the Feko suite.

Dr. Naveed Mufti
Associate Product Manager, Altair
Dr. Naveed Mufti received his Ph.D. and B.E. in Electrical Engineering in 2012 and 2002 respectively. After graduation, he joined the national spectrum management agency, where he was trained in spectrum engineering and monitoring, and gained expertise in spectrum planning, frequency assignment, interference assessment, coverage analysis and optimization of spectral usage. Post PhD, Naveed was involved with technical project design, appraisal, implementation and management, as well as relevant academic teaching and research supervision, besides academic management roles. Naveed joined Altair in 2023 and is part of the team developing and upgrading the spectrum engineering, radar/radio coverage planning and optimization, and interference functions inside WRAP.
