The Respiration Chamber Technique for Quantification of Methane Emissions in Ruminants
About
In this webinar Dr. Ku-Vera with deal with aspects of design, construction and operation of respiration chambers for measurements of methane emissions in ruminants. Instrumentation and calibration of analyzers required for such measurements will be dealt with as well as strategies of methane mitigation under practical farming conditions. Main factors affecting methane emissions are dry matter intake and chemical composition of the ration (forages vs. concentrates). Research carried out by Dr. Ku-Vera has contributed to unravel the potential of foliages and pods of tropical plant species containing secondary metabolites to mitigate methane emissions in ruminants.
Key Topics:
How to build a respiration chamber (RC)
What instrumentation is required to operate RC
Caibration of RC and gas analyzers
How to operate RC protocols
How to mitigate enteric methane in ruminants
