In this discussion, coaches learned strategies to create and sustain a team environment that is inclusive and self-aware. Coaches gained an awareness of the barriers they and their team may face in having uncomfortable conversations about race and racism and identify actions that can be taken to overcome these barriers. The strategies shared support how coaches understand the importance of racial consciousness and inclusive practices in team culture, values, and actions. Further, coaches learned how to work in tandem with existing athletic and campus initiatives to support an inclusive team environment for their staff and student-athletes.
