She is a statewide SANE Clinical Consultant for the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV). After receiving a bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center-Lincoln in 2000, she earned a Master of Forensic Science from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2004. She has experience as an ED nurse, in rural nursing leadership, and for seven years was the SANE/SART Clinical Coordinator of a NW Kansas hospital-based program. Jessica is a member of the Kansas Sexual Assault Response Committee (K-SARAC), and has served on County SANE/SART Advisory Boards, Child Abuse MDTs, Prison Rape Eliminations Act MDT, a Campus Task Force, and is the current President Elect of the Kansas Chapter of International Association of Forencsic Nurses. Jessica represented the Kansas Chapter of IAFN on the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) Sexual Assault Kit Initiative multidisciplinary working group and was instrumental in updating the KBI Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit to reflect current best practice and evidence-based recommendations. She has assisted with the development of SANE programs in Kansas, developed the first two-day SANE clinical training with live models in the state, and provides training for multidisciplinary professionals.
