Standard Work is treated as one of the most basic tools in TPS (Toyota Production System). Unfortunately, it is also one of the least understood & one of the most ineffectively used.
One of the seven wastes of Lean (Muda) is Muda of human motion. Standard Work is created when we minimise human motion & create an ergonomic, productive & safe method to produce quality products or services. Clearly defined & visualised Standard Work then becomes a base for sustenance & further improvement.
Program Objective
This program gives an overview of step by step approach to designing Standard Work & equip participants with a basic, but powerful tool for minimising waste.
1. Participants will understand the Muda of motion and movement, the meaning of ‘Standards’ in Lean & importance of 4 M Standards.
2. Overview of Workstation design & Layout design & their importance in achieving ‘Standard work’
3. Elements of Standard Work
4. Through a case study presented by the facilitator, participants will gain confidence in the implementation of Standard work.
