This webinar aims to help manufacturers understand the safety compliance and standardization challenges of utilizing Universal Serial Bus in appliances, particularly focused on the technical differences between different end-product applications and will discuss some of the open issues still under development within the relevant standards committees.

The focus will be on the IEC 60335 series of end-product safety standards for appliances, and its differences to other similar use end-product standards, such as IEC 62368-1 for Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment.

Attendees will learn:

1. A summary of the development of USB technology, where it has come from and where it is evolving.
2. An awareness of the current usages of USB in appliances
3. A detailed comparison of the technical differences between IEC 60335-1 and IEC 62368-1, and the related compliance challenges that arise.
4. A summary of the regulatory interest in the use of USB.
5. An overview of the real-world safety challenges still yet to be fully addressed by the relevant safety standards and summary of discussions taking place in the relevant standards committees.
