In this session, which will be relevant to both primary and secondary colleagues, John Hayes will be explaining the ways in which he has used edtech to increase efficiencies in his work and save time. John will cover the benefits of working through Office 365 and examine the ways that Teams, One Note and Power Automate can be harnessed to streamline workload. The session will offer insights into how schools can adapt and adopt some of John's strategies and approaches.
John says: "I have been on my edtech journey for approximately 18 months now; a journey that has provided me with so much. I have loved the continuous development you can gain from the supportive edtech networks out there, the creativity it brings to my teaching life and the opportunity to train others in the world of edtech. A world that is not as scary as some first think."

John Hayes
Head of Year 8 and IT Coordinator, Stanground Academy, Peterborough
John works at an academy that went through an IT systems migration nearly two years ago. Shortly after this migration he took on the role of IT coordinator alongside his head of year role. This is where his passion for Ed Tech has stemmed from. Being head of year to a large cohort and teaching out of subject, his pathway within edtech naturally became about efficiencies and making the systems work for him and his students.
Once John could see the power and possibilities from their new IT platform, he was keen to take the staff within the academy along with him on the journey. Their journey had to become expedient when the first national lockdown came into force, but the features of the platform allowed staff to not only teach remotely for the first time, but to surprise themselves with just how well they could.
